One dead, one missing after Korea's central region slammed by monsoon-like rain
  • 6 years ago
If you are watching us in Seoul or somewhere else in Korea's central region,... you will be well aware of the torrential downpours we had on Wednesday and into the early hours of this morning.
The city of Icheon was hardest hit,... seeing almost 100 millimeters of rain by 5pm on Wednesday.
Seoul was lashed by over 40 millimeters of rain that was concentrated over a short period of time.
Unfortunately, the sudden downpours caused the death of one man who was swept away while riding his bike near the Jung-ang Stream in Seoul's Seongbuk-do District.
A man in his 40s is also missing in the city of Yongin after being swept away.
Police and firefighters are still searching for him, but to no avail as of yet.
We'll have more on the wet weather with our Lee Jee-hyun later in this newscast.
