Facebook has for the first time made public data about inappropriate content found and deleted on the social network.
In its Community Standards Enforcement Report released on Tuesday, Facebook said it had disabled some 583 million fake accounts in the first three months of the year.
The figure account's for more than a quarter of the site's 2.2 billion monthly active users.
The social network giant also reported it had deleted 837 million pieces of spam and two and a half million instances of hate speech during the same period.
Facebook has come under intense pressure over the use of private data and the exposure of harmful content.
