And amid the rapid developments unfolding in multiple locations,... South Korea's top negotiator to the long-stalled six-party talks is leaving for Washington today... for discussions with U.S. officials on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
Seoul's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Lee Do-hoon is scheduled to meet with White House National Security Council senior director for Asian affairs Matthew Pottinger, and Assistant Secretary of State East Asian and Pacific Affairs Susan Thornton.
They are expected to discuss ways to achieve lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula through the complete denuclearization of the region.
They will also focus on how the allies will carry out the Panmunjom Declaration reached during the inter-Korean summit.
