A preparatory hearing has begun for the trial of former President Lee Myung-bak,... starting just about an hour ago.
As expected, he did not attend the hearing, but through his lawyers he denied all 16 charges of corruption.
Lee is accused of embezzling 32 million U.S. dollars from his brother's auto parts company, which the former president is suspected of secretly controlling.
He's also charged with taking bribes worth over 10 million U.S. dollars from former bank chiefs, lawmakers and local businessmen.
Lee was arrested in March,... becoming the country's fourth former leader to face a criminal trial for corruption.
His successor, Park Geun-hye, was sentenced to 24 years in prison last month after being found guilty on separate corruption charges.
