Blue House says U.S. Forces Korea should stay even after peace treaty

The Blue House said that it is necessary for the presence of U.S. Forces in South Korea to continue,... even after a peace treaty is signed.
Such remarks were made after Moon Chung-in,... President Moon's special diplomatic adviser, insisted on Wednesday the presence of U.S. troops in South Korea would no longer be justified should the two Koreas formally end the Korean War.
A Blue House official speaking under the condition of anonymity dismissed the possibility, asserting that the USFK's role as a mediator between surrounding powers, such as China and Japan,... is critical.
The official also confirmed that Pyongyang was not among the proposed U.S.-North Korea summit sites that President Moon and U.S. President Trump discussed on Saturday.
