The South Korean government has announced a five-year plan to fight corruption.
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced the measures Wednesday during the second meeting of the Anti-Corruption Policy Consultation Council headed by President Moon Jae-in at the Blue House.

"Anti-corruption reform cannot be achieved in just a couple of months. It's a task that we need to focus on throughout our term. And it can only succeed with the support and participation of the people."

The plan mainly involves establishing anti-corruption organizations that are monitored by the public, broadening the definition of corruption in the public sector,... and developing a system to ensure that managers in private companies follow the law.
It also contains stronger punishments for bribery, influence peddling, embezzlement and malpractice.
The commission says that by 2022 it aims to raise Korea's anti-corruption ranking to the world's top 30.
