Over in Europe,... South Korea's foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha has been discussing North Korea with top diplomats from the European Union.
Speaking at the EU Foreign Affairs Council,... for the first time ever,... as a non-EU member representative,... Kang explained the fast-changing situation on the Korean Peninsula now that Pyongyang has shown a strong inclination to talk.
And with the planned back-to-back summits approaching,... she asked for the EU's continued support and cooperation in establishing peace within the region.
On the sidelines of the meeting,... Kang was briefed by her Swedish counterpart on her talks with North Korea's top diplomat Ri Yong-ho.
Sweden's top diplomat said last weekend's talks were "focused primarily on the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, which is high on the UN Security Council's agenda."
They called the upcoming summits with North Korea a "turning point" in resolving the nuclear issue and bringing lasting peace to the region.
