S. Korea, U.S. officials meet in Hawaii for first round of renegotiations of U.S. troops cost-sharing

Talks have begun over the renegotiation of the cost-sharing agreement for U.S. troops in South Korea.
The foreign ministry says Seoul and Washington officials met in Hawaii on Wednesday, and the first round of discussions is expected to last around four days.
The cost of maintaining the U.S. forces in Korea has been shared since 1991, under what's called the Special Measures Agreement.
It's current terms are set to expire at the end of the year.
Currently Seoul's share is almost 900-million U.S. dollars a year, but that's expected to increase under the new deal, with the Trump administration calling on all nations that host American troops to pitch in more.
