UN report to shed light on Egypt's role in N. Korean weapons sale: NYT

A UN report is set to shed light on North Korea's deep ties to Egypt, where the regime's embassy is believed to be a clearinghouse for illicit arms sales.
The report -- due to be released this month -- focuses on Egypt's role as the trans-shipment point for North Korean weapons throughout North Africa and the Middle east.
The New York Times reports that the UN has been looking into a North Korean freighter that was intercepted off the coast of Egypt in 2016 carrying some 30-thousand rocket-propelled grenades, estimated to worth some 26 million dollars.
UN and U.S. officials say Egypt has purchased North Korean weapons and allowed North Korean diplomats to use its Cairo Embassy as a base for military sales across the region,... in a clear violation of UN sanctions.
