Saudi Arabia allows women to join military

Saudi Arabia is continuing its recent efforts to give more freedom to women by now allowing them to join the military.
Saudi women have until Thursday to apply for positions with the rank of soldier in the provinces of Riyadh, Mecca, al-Qassim and Medina.
Their roles, however, will reportedly be restricted to more of a security position, rather than front-line combat.
They must fulfill 12 conditions, including certain age, weight and height requirements, and must not have any previous government employment history.
The move is the latest in Crown Prince Salman's social and economic reform drive, dubbed "Vision 2030."
