Saudi Arabia lifts decades-long ban on women driving
  • 6 years ago
Women in Saudi Arabia have started enjoyed their freedom on two or four wheels ...after the world’s last remaining ban on women driving was lifted on Sunday.
Congratulatory messages from all over the world were sent through social networking sites after the clock struck midnight on Sunday and the decades-long ban was finally lifted.
An estimated six-million women drivers will be applying for driver's licenses.
The move is widely expected to raise the participation of Saudi Arabian women in the workforce as well as social activities since they don't have to rely solely on public transportation or hire a male driver to travel.
