Melania Trump's Tweet About Diet And Exercise Backfires
  • 6 years ago
Melania Trump's recent tweet about diet and exercise drew many references to President Trump.

First lady Melania Trump welcomed the start of American Heart Month with a tweet.  "I encourage parents to take this opportunity to teach children about the importance of a healthy diet & exercise!" she wrote. Many responded by suggesting she broach the topic with President Trump.  One person replied, "Teach your husband first," while another suggested, "You should encourage your husband the importance of diet and exercise. Tweeting is not exercising. Unless you call it exercising your fingers."  Among them was the question, "So a dozen diet cokes, Big Macs, filet 'O fish sandwiches, over-cooked steak with ketchup (which is not a vegetable) paired with a belief that exercise uses up your life energy isn't the way to live? Please, tell us more..."  The Twitter comments were likely in reference to the president's reported fondness for fast food and "his reservations about exercise."
During the 2016 campaign, Trump admitted to his appreciation for fast food, telling CNN's Anderson Cooper, "Burger King, McDonald's, I can live with it. The other night I had Kentucky Fried Chicken. Not the worst thing in the world."
