Selena Gomez tearfully accepted Billboard’s “Women of the Year” award… and her speech was certainly one to be remembered.

The ceremony took place at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles, and the “Wolves” singer openly wept once she hit the stage.

Gomez said that her friend Francia should be getting the award because she saved her life… and before the surgery took place, she was only two weeks away from full kidney failure.

And Selena told the crowd just how lucky she was.

In case you forgot, the pop star received a kidney from her friend this past summer, and she’s been made no secret just how precious a gift she was given.

When speaking about the award, she noted that she was grateful for the older women who have lifted all of the other women in the business up – because she wouldn’t be there if it weren’t for them.
