A stunning video has emerged of a blizzard hitting Mount Etna as it erupts.

The footage, shot in Sicily, Italy, on Monday, shows strong winds and snow falling on the glowing lava on the slopes of the volcano.

"The Etna volcano continues to erupt although the explosive activity has faded, for over a week continues the emission of lava from a fracture at the base of the Southeast Crater at an altitude of 3000 meters," the filmer wrote online.

"This is the latest of many lava flows generated from the crater in March and until now has dropped down for kilometres reaching an altitude of 2400 meters," they added.
