The San Gabriel Complex fires stood at 4,900 acres on Wednesday, June 22, with over 1,000 firefighters and other workers battling the Los Angeles County fire. It was 10 percent contained.Photographer Sean Garrison was out with firefighters when the winds shifted, trapping them behind an engine. He posted videos showing the moment as the winds shifted and he had to seek safety behind the engine with the firefighters. Garrison can be heard saying “time to go” in one video.
In his post, Garrison said he has had close calls with fires in the past, but this time he was “legit worried” as the fire shifted.
At its peak, more than 770 homes were evacuated because of two fires — the Reservoir and Fish fires — that threatened Azusa and Duarte, California. Hundreds of people were to be allowed back into their homes on Wednesday night. Credit: Instagram/Sean Garrison (@THEScaryGary)
