The death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray at the hands of police sparked riots in Baltimore this week, but one video going viral has restored faith in humanity for many.

The video, shot by local television station WMAR, shows what appears to be a mother dragging her son away from the riot scene.

According to reports, the woman saw her son on television and immediately came to the scene of the riots where she smacked her son around, admonishing him for his poor choices.

The unidentified woman is being hailed "Mom of the Year" and in the video her son, rightfully so, looks extremely embarrassed.

Gray was arrested in West Baltimore on the morning of April 12.

By the time he arrived at the police station a half hour later, Gray was unable to talk. He died on April 19 of spinal injuries.

Baltimore authorities say they're investigating how the 25-year-old was hurt. No charges have been filed against the officers who took Gray into custody.
