Around a dozen men used axes and a sledgehammer to smash open display cases at a luxury watch shop in Paris.

They set off smoke bombs before fleeing on foot with 20 watches worth upwards of 10,000 euros each.

France has seen a spate of high class heists this year, including several in the upmarket town of Cannes.
