'Shoot me!' Axe-wielding student tells cop just moments before his death
  • 8 years ago
DENTON, TEXAS — The Department of Public Safety in Texas released dash cam footage which shows a man wielding an axe, taunting a police officer to shoot him before being shot dead.

On December 13th around 1 a.m., witnesses reported 21-year-old Ryan McMillan smashing car windows with a small axe at the University of North Texas. He damaged seven cars in a campus parking garage.

When officers tracked him down around 1:30 in the morning, McMillan got out of his vehicle carrying his axe, and began walking toward UNT Corporal Stephen Bean, yelling at the officer to shoot him. After telling the crazed university student to back away several times, the officer pumped at least 3 bullets into chest.

Toxicology test results could take roughly two months to find out if McMillan was on any drugs or substances that night. His friends and family say he was not an aggressive person, and can't understand what might have led to this.

Ryan McMillan celebrated his 21st birthday the day before his death.
