India Issues Hijack Alert to Airlines

India is on high alert after it received information of a threat from Pakistani militants who want to target its airlines. Authorities have warned the airlines to be on guard.

The Indian government has issued a hijack alert to its airlines - Indian Airlines and Air India. Intelligence reports suggest a probable hijack attempt by Pakistan-based militants.

Airline staff outside India was also alerted.

"It is based on some intelligence reports that we have received and we suspect that there can be an attempt to target one of our airlines, especially those that fly abroad, outside India. And we have alerted our agencies to be careful on anti-hijacking measures. The alert has been issued to our agencies who implement anti-hijacking measures, they are deputed both in India as well as outside India, wherever the Indian Airlines offices are."

According to intelligence reports, Pakistani militants were planning to target the Air India planes operating in India and other countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and other South Asian nations.
