Drunk Passenger Causes Hijacking Alert on Virgin Australia Flight

A drunken passenger on a Virgin Australia plane recently managed to scare the daylights out of the crew.
A drunken passenger on a Virgin Australia plane recently managed to scare the daylights out of the crew. Flight VA41 had departed from Brisbane and was headed towards Bali.
During the journey, the drunken suspect walked towards the front of the aircraft and reportedly tried to enter the cockpit. That prompted the pilot to send out a ‘7500’ code which translates to a hijack alert.
The troubling incident unfolded about an hour before the plane was scheduled to land. The troublesome Australian passenger, identified as 28-year-old Matt Christopher was restrained by the crew and placed in a rear seat prior to the landing.
Fortunately the plane did touch ground safely at Ngurah Rai airport and was immediately boarded by Indonesian troops due to the distress call. A Virgin Australia spokesperson stated “This is no hijacking, this is a miscommunication. There was a drunk passenger, intoxicated and aggressively behaved. He was trying to enter the cockpit, banging the door but he did not enter the cockpit.”
None of the 139 passengers and six crew members were harmed. The airport was closed for a short period of time following the landing.
