Police fire at protesters in Bishkek as Kyrgyz riots turn violent

There are reports four people have been killed after police opened fire on anti-government protests in Kyrgyzstan. In the capital, Bishkek, tear gas is being used in an attempt to prevent thousands of demonstrators converging in the centre. The unrest also continues in the north-west of the country where on Tuesday, a regional government building was stormed and its governor taken hostage.
