Maratha quota agitation turns violent as protesters set truck on fire

Protesters in Maharashtra set a truck ablaze in Aurangabad’s Gangapur on Tuesday, demanding reservation for Maratha community in government jobs and education institutions.

On Monday, Maratha outfits had threatened to intensify their agitation after a protester, Kakasaheb Shinde, reportedly jumped into the Godavari river. Earlier in the day, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said there were vested political interest provoking the outfits.
