Unique Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Chasing Vintage Le Mans Racer.

The black-on-black hypercar is a nod to Bugatti's factory debut at Le Mans.

Like the Veyron before it, the Chiron has produced too many special versions to count. Add to the equation that production figures were higher (450 units versus 500) and there's no shortage of interesting versions. Ahead of the launch of the new Bugatti in the coming months, the house of Molsheim is once again highlighting the W16 monster for a one-off build.

Based on the hotter Super Sport, this sinister Chiron carries the "Hommage T50S" suffix. No, it has nothing to do with Gordon Murray Automotive's GMA T50s. Instead, it's modeled after the Type 50S, a racing car from 1931. That year, Bugatti made its official factory debut at Le Mans on its home turf in France, the iconic Circuit de la Sarthe. Six years later, in 1937, Bugatti triumphed at Le Mans with the Type 57G Tank.

This menacing Chiron Super Sport echoes its predecessor with the same grille pattern in a horseshoe grille with a painted "5" logo. The racing number is repeated on the doors, which are hand-painted white to create a contrasting effect. The profile also features a Le Mans 1931 graphic in front of the rear wheels, while the underside of the active rear spoiler features a Circuit de la Sarthe layout.

Bugatti doesn't say who owns this car, but judging by the orange side markings on the wheel arches, it could be someone from the US. We know that the wealthy customer wants a black-on-black Chiron that is a reminder of the company's glorious past. In this context, even the bonnet of the quad-turbo, 8.0-liter engine is a nod to the Type 50S. It has similar circular patterns with a fancy engine spin effect and a "Perlée" finish.

Inside, the storage area on the side of the center console and the knee protectors have the same appearance. Also noteworthy are the track's layout and the gorgeous gate cards adorned with a hand-applied representation of the 1931 race car. Complementing the unique details are the seats with hand-stitched "Le Mans 1931" lettering on the headrests.

This Super Sport was produced with the optional Sky View glass roof, which increased headroom by 2.7 centimeters (1.06 in). It has a pair of fixed panels with laminated structure and four interlayers to keep the cabin quiet and cool at the same time.

Bugatti isn't saying how much the owner paid for his custom Chiron, but let us remind you that a "base" Super Sport retails for $3,825,000 before extras.
