Maine Supreme Court Refuses to Decide on Trump's Ballot Eligibility, Defers to US Supreme Court
  • 3 months ago
Maine's Supreme Judicial Court declined to weigh in on whether Donald Trump can stay on the state's ballot for its March 5 primary. This keeps in place a lower court ruling that the US Supreme Court must first rule on a similar case in Colorado challenging Trump's eligibility. Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, a Democrat, initially ruled Trump did not meet ballot qualifications under the 14th Amendment's insurrection clause. But a judge put that decision on hold pending the Supreme Court's ruling in the Colorado case, which will be heard on February 8th.
