Supreme Court Justices Expressed Anger in Unanimous Ruling on Trump Ballot Removal, Says Legal Analyst
  • 2 months ago
Legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin noted some Supreme Court justices seemed angry after ruling Colorado cannot remove Trump from the ballot under the 14th Amendment. While the decision was unanimous, Toobin said some justices' written opinions indicated frustration. The three liberal justices and Justice Barrett wrote separately arguing the conservative majority went too far in guidance that could influence future cases. Toobin said on CNN you could tell from the opinions some justices were angered by the decision. The ruling means states do not have unilateral authority to remove federal candidates, and Congress must act under the insurrection clause.
