गोवर्धन पर्व भगवान कृष्ण को समर्पित है और यह उनकी इंद्रदेव के खिलाफ जीत को दिखाता है। हिंदू पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, भगवान कृष्ण ने गांव के लोगों को बारिश और भगवान इंद्र के प्रकोप से बचाने के लिए पूरा गोवर्धन पर्वत अपने हाथ की सबसे छोटी उंगली में धारण किया था। तब से प्रतीक के रूप में गोवर्धन के दिन गाय के गोबर से गोवर्धन पर्वत बनाया जाता है और इसकी पूजा की जाती है। चूंकि कृष्ण जी को गायों से बहुत प्रेम था, इसलिए गोवर्धन बनाने में गाय के गोबर का ही इस्तेमाल होता है। इस साल गोवर्धन पूजा कार्तिक माह में दिवाली के चौथे दिन यानी कि 14 नवंबर को मनाई जाएगी और इसी दिन गोबर से गोवर्धन पर्वत तैयार किया जाएगा। वीडियो में देखें गोवर्धन पूजा के बाद बचे हुए गोबर का क्या करें ?

Govardhan festival is dedicated to Lord Krishna and it marks his victory against Indradev. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna held the entire Govardhan Mountain in the little finger of his hand to protect the village people from rain and the wrath of Lord Indra. Since then, as a symbol, Govardhan Parvat is made from cow dung on the day of Govardhan and it is worshipped. Since Lord Krishna loved cows very much, only cow dung is used in making Govardhan.
