Wales headlines 15 September: Up to 3000 jobs lost at steelworks, sat navs may not fully update for 20mph, 4 new inductees for Welsh sports hall of fame

The UK Government has pledged a half a million pound investment into Port Talbot steelworks to keep the plant open, produce greener steel, but is meant there may be as many as 3000 jobs lost. TATA has also put 700 million pounds in, but residents and workers will see the plans as a major loss.

As Wales shifts to a 20mph speed limit in built up areas, GPS companies have warned Sat Nav users to be patient and not expect perfect updates immediately, saying road signs should be used. Police forces have also said policing the new limits will be a last resort as people acclimatise to the change.

Four new members have been inducted into the Welsh sports hall of fame. Wales’ leading goal scorer Helen Ward, Olympic hockey medalist Leah Wilkinson, netballer Suzy Drane and dual code rugby player John Devereux are the latest inductees, bringing the total number of names on the list up to 164.
