The opposition coalition, INDIA has planned to bring a no-confidence motion against the NDA government in the Lok Sabha. The Congress has filed for a no-confidence motion. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi filed the no confidence motion notice at 9.20 am in the notice office. Apart from Congress, BRS also moved no confidence motion against the NDA government.

The decision by opposition parties to move the no-confidence motion comes after the monsoon session of Parliament faced disruption for four days due to the opposition's demand for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement on the violence in Manipur.

The decision to pass the no-confidence motion comes after the government failed to have an elaborate discussion with the opposition on the Manipur issue. The opposition demands that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should make a statement on the Manipur violence in the parliament.

The no-confidence motion was taken up in the Lok Sabha at 12 noon on Wednesday. The Lok Sabha speaker has accepted the no-confidence motion for debate. The date for the debate is yet to be announced.

As per the Lok Sabha rules, when a no confidence motion is filed at the Parliament, the Speaker has to first assess whether the notice has support of 50 MPs or not, and then time for debate is allotted by the Speaker.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had already reached out two opposition leaders in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha - Mallikarjun Kharge and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury - for debate on the Manipur issue.

The Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal stated that let the no confidence motion come, as the government is ready for every situation. He further termed the no-confidence motion as an excuse by the opposition alliance.

Well this isn't the first time the NDA government has faced the no-confidence motion. The opposition had brought the motion in the last term of PM Modi as well in 2019.
