Khalistani separatist leader Lakhbir Singh Rode has passed away in Pakistan, as confirmed by his brother Jasbir Singh Rode. The 72-year-old, who styled himself as the chief of the banned groups Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) and International Sikh Youth Federation, had been conducting his activities from Pakistan for an extended period.

Lakhbir Singh Rode, a relative of the deceased Khalistani militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, was involved in running the outlawed KLF from Pakistan. Bhindranwale was killed by Indian security forces during Operation Blue Star at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, an action ordered by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Indian government had designated Lakhbir Singh Rode as a terrorist. Initially, he fled the country and took refuge in Dubai before relocating to Pakistan, where he continued to operate the banned outfit. Rode was suspected to be managing his activities from Lahore.
