Twitter's Traffic Drops
Twitter's user traffic has slowed down significantly since the launch of Meta's text-based platform Threads, which has already surpassed 100 million sign-ups within just five days of its debut. Twitter's web traffic dropped by 5% during the first two days of Threads' availability compared to the previous week, and it was down by 11% compared to the same period in 2022. The growth of Threads is attributed to its integration with Meta's Instagram, allowing users to sign up using their existing Instagram handles. Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, has expressed concern over Threads, with his lawyer accusing Meta of "unlawful misappropriation" of trade secrets. Additionally, Musk and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg engaged in a public exchange of mocking and derogatory remarks over the weekend.
