Alarming report on farmer mental health prompts peak body to call for urgent action

The past year has been hard for farmers, with rising costs, falling commodity prices and a grim economic outlook coming on top of extreme weather, including widespread flooding in the eastern states. Now a survey has revealed almost half of those questioned have contemplated self-harm or even suicide, and a third have even attempted it.
