  • last year
We spend a very large part of our lives at work.
This time would represent an average of 35 years.
Finding a path that we are passionate about is often seen as a key to professional fulfillment.
This has become a major concern since the pandemic.
By doing a "passion job", we are more inclined to accept difficult working conditions, atypical schedules, low wages...
In reality, the "passion jobs" would only be an illusion.
Let's take for example the following jobs: journalist, stylist, musician, game designer, chef...
in 2019, average salaries for these occupations were below the average annual salary in the UK.
They were also characterized by extra hours and tasks that were generally unpaid.
We also note that unpaid internships are common in these sectors.
But if early career motivation takes priority over salary, money is gradually becoming a central
a central issue.
We finally realize that in these sectors, passionate workers are too often "overexploited".
Many of them then decide to resign and move on to "more conventional" professions that allow them to have a better life balance.
