The federal government is committing almost half-a-billion dollars to improve the internet service of Australians living in regional and rural areas. From today around fifty thousand building owners in certain areas will be able to make the switch to fibre-to-the-premises services. That's on the top of a separate budget promise for regional customers worth around 480 million dollars.
