In the wake of Facebook’s rebrand to Meta Platforms, it’s lost yet another executive. Meron Colbeci, formerly Meta’s director of product management for Novi, Meta’s crypto wallet initiative, is moving to Checkout.com, the London-based payment startup. This move comes on the heels of David Marcus’ departure. Colbeci said, “I was inspired by its focus on building customer-first technologies that help democratize access to the digital economy.” At press time, Checkout.com already raised over $800 million from investors and reached a valuation of $15 billion. Additionally, the firm has hired 600 new employees in the past year. As the news broke, Meta stock sat at just under $335 per share, down nearly 2%.
