Narayan Rane Arrested For 'Slap Uddhav Thackeray' Comment, Gets Bail: Timeline Of Events

Narayan Rane, Union Minister, was arrested on August 24 in Maharashtra. Rane was arrested for his comment on slapping Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister. Rane said Thackeray should be slapped for his \"ignorance of the year India won Independence.” The Union Minister was granted bail hours later. Rane argued that he was arrested without proper notice on "politically motivated" charges. Narayan Rane’s lawyer, Sangram Desai told ANI, “He has also been told not to do such a thing in future.” Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra tweeted, “We strongly condemn this gross misuse of police force & suppression.
