Spotted Hyena cubs nursing in Kruger National Park

While on safari we found these two spotted hyena cubs suckling on the female hyena. The Hyenas makes their dens in stormwater drainage pipes that goes underneath the road in Kruger National Park to prevent flooding.

These drainage pipes give a perfect hiding place for the cubs and give them an escape route as they have an exit and an entrance.

Hyena milk has the highest protein and fat content of any terrestrial carnivore. Cubs will nurse from their mother for around 16 months.
