Is second wave really dying or is it early optimism?

India recorded 92,596 new cases of the coronavirus disease on Thursday, and the number of new fatalities stood at 6,148 after Bihar revised its toll figures on Wednesday.

Since the last few days, the daily Covid cases have fallen from almost four lakhs to below one lakh. The decline is still continuing. As the country opens up again, there are questions about whether these are the signs that the second wave in India has indeed tapered off. 

Or is it actually early optimism because the crisis in rural India is a silent one. India Today's Sneha Mordani explains in this news report.
