Massive Protests outside Chinese embassy at London to mark Tiananmen Massacre anniversary
  • 3 years ago
A coalition of human rights groups organised anti-China protests in London on June 4. The vigil outside the Chinese embassy marks the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre anniversary. The organisations that extended their full support for this include Remember June Fourth, Chinese Solidarity Campaign, Democracy for Hong Kong, The World Uyghur Congress, Global Alliance for Tibet & Persecuted Minorities and others. They shouted slogans against China’s communist regime for its repressive policies. Tiananmen Square protests were student-led demonstrations calling for democracy, free speech, and free press in China. They were halted in a bloody crackdown known as Tiananmen Square Massacre. The Chinese army crackdown on the protesters killed at least 10,000 people. Thousands of Chinese nationals were detained, imprisoned or went missing. The voice of the innocent people who demanded basic rights and justice was silenced and repressed.
