Tamil Nadu to decide on Sterlite plant; Karnataka CM to chair a crucial cabinet meet amid Covid surge; more

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has called for an all-party meeting on Monday to discuss the oxygen production at the Sterlite plant in Thoothukudi. This comes after the Supreme Court suggested the state government to take over the Sterlite copper unit and use its oxygen production capability for treating Covid-19 patients.

Karnataka on Sunday reported 34,804 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the active caseload in the state to 2,62,162. Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases, BS Yediyurappa-led Karnataka government may impose strict restrictions, including lockdown, in the state.
