President Elect Joe Biden's phone talks with President Moon was followed by one with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga this morning.
A readout from Biden's transition team said Biden called the U.S., Japan alliance the "cornerstone of a prosperous and secure Indo-Pacific region."
Shortly after the call, Mr. Suga told reporters that the two discussed the need to cooperate on COVID-19, the global economic recovery, climate change... and that Mr. Biden had affirmed Washington's commitment to defending the Senkaku Islands under a 1960 bilateral security treaty.
