The World Health Organization warned that if disease prevention efforts are not taken seriously amid the fast transmission of COVID-19, the death toll could reach two million.

Plastic bubble tents are set on the sidewalk next to a French restaurant in Manhattan's Upper West Side.
The restaurant owner came up with the idea of setting private tents outside when he was trying to figure out how to stay in business when the weather gets cold and also protect customers from COVID-19 transmission.
"Well, I can tell you that with everything going on in this world, eating in a bubble is about one of the best experiences we can have. So, I mean, look at it. They have everything safe, clean. Everything is six feet apart. Love it."
Newly confirmed COVID-19 cases have increased by 9 percent to an average of 43 thousand compared to last week in the U.S..
Among 50 states, 23 are experiencing rapid transmission.
California alone now has more than 800-thousand cases, while the total number of cases in the U.S. has hit 7 million.
Things are not so different in Europe.
France and Russia are setting new record highs of newly confirmed patients.
Up to 32-point-6 million cases of COVID-19, and 1 million deaths have been confirmed around the world.
The WHO warns that if preventative measures are not taken, the death toll could hit two million and that the Influenza season could worsen the situation.
"We haven't even started our flu season yet. So what we are worried about is the possibility that these trends are going in the wrong direction."
Anthony Fauci also worries that Influenza trending in the middle of the pandemic could burden hospital systems.
He added that the pandemic is still in its first wave of transmission as some countries like the U.S. have never been able to reduce the number of newly confirmed cases to a reasonable level.
