The head of the World Health Organization has rejected U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's claim that the WHO chief owes his lofty position to China.
According to the Times and the Daily Telegraph,... Pompeo told a private meeting of British lawmakers on Tuesday that the WHO has become a "political" body,... saying its decisions were influenced by a deal struck between the WHO chief and China that helped him become its head.
Pompeo added that people died "because of the deal that was made".
Asked about the allegations,... the WHO chief said they were "untrue and unacceptable",... adding that they are "without any foundation."
