Meanwhile in Korea, the government is looking to set in place... some "safe-eating customs" to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Restaurants in the country will receive recognition... if they take measures that provide a safer eating environment for their customers.
Arirang's Kim Do-yeon went to check it out himself.
Traditionally, Koreans eat from the same pot and have a container for spoons and chopsticks.
But the government is promoting a policy aimed at making sure these traditions don't lead to the spread of COVID-19.
"Safe Restaurant" is a policy recommended to local districts by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
The policy aims to recognize restaurants that make efforts to protect their customers from the virus.
The city of Bucheon has adopted these measures.
"First, we are looking to designate 100 restaurants, but in reality, we're expecting more. We're not trying to enforce restaurants to practice measures, but rather recognize the ones that have these measures in place and practice them well."
Local government employees thoroughly check restaurants for three things.
First, are there methods to distribute large dishes in a sanitary way such as providing ladles?
Second, are the spoons and chopsticks distributed in a sanitary fashion?
And, third, are the servers wearing masks?
"Restaurants that have passed the city’s inspection can display this sticker to show they follow COVID-19 safety standards. But they have to keep their standards high as they could receive a random spot check."
A restaurant owner who received the sticker says she is motivated to keep her customers safe.
"We will continue our efforts to provide a safe service, so our customers can relax when they visit our restaurant."
Bucheon city is receiving many requests for the inspection and will give priority to restaurants that have consistently scored high on sanitary and service tests in the past.
