서울시, 시민들을 위해 서울시장 분향소 마련

It's been two days since Seoul mayor Park Won-soon was found dead on Mt. Bugaksan near the capital after he went missing.
Today, the city has set up a special memorial altar for the public to pay their respects and express their condolences.
Our Choi Won-jong is on the scene this afternoon.
Won-jong do fill us in.
Good afternoon. I'm standing in front of Seoul city hall where the city has set up a special memorial altar for the late mayor Park Won-soon. Just a brief note from yesterday...
On Friday, the wake for Mayor Park was being held at Seoul National University Hospital where some of his co-workers and many high-profile political officials had come for a visit,... including U.S. ambassador and President Moon Jae-in's top aides.
As you already know, of course, throughout his career, Park had been hailed as a progressive political leader who focused on social issues like climate change and the recent outbreak of COVID-19.
In addition, the city said it has an interim mayor, Park's deputy, Seo Jeong-hyup.
He will be staying in office until April 7th of next year.
The memorial altar at the Seoul Plaza.
I believe this is the first time the city is hosting such an event.
Please tell us more about the atmosphere there right now?

Well, Daniel, this event started at 11 AM, Korea Time. Despite the hot summer weather today, many people have already visited the place to pay their respects for Mayor Park. As you can see behind me...
Many people are gathering here this afternoon. One by one, people are putting their flowers at the memorial altar, and I talked to one of the visitors here, he said he is saddened by Park's sudden death, and it was very spontaneous. The city said that the body will be moved on July 13th, and that the memorial altar will be held at the Seoul plaza until then.
Seoul also has set up an online platform for those who can't visit this place, but still wish to pay their respects for Park's recent death.
That's all I have for you. I will be back with more updates later this afternoon. Back to you, Daniel.
