Key chapters like Democratic Rights, Food Security in India, Federalism, Citizenship and Secularism have been dropped from school courses in the national education board CBSE's bid to reduce the burden on students amid the coronavirus crisis. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Tuesday that the syllabus for 2020-21 would be reduced by a third because of the "extraordinary situation" as the world fights the coronavirus pandemic.

केंद्रीय माध्यमिक शिक्षा बोर्ड, यानी सीबीएसई ने 9वीं से 12वीं क्लास का सिलेबस 30 फीसदी तक घटाए जाने की घोषणा की है। ये व्यवस्था 2020-21 सत्र के लिए लागू होगी। ये फैसला कोरोना वायरस महामारी की विषम स्थिति को ध्यान में रखते हुए लिया गया है। सीबीएसई द्वारा किए गए ट्वीट में इस बात की जानकारी दी। केंद्रीय मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री रमेश पोखरियाल निशंक ने भी ट्वीट करके जानकारी दी। उन्होंने कहा कि देश और दुनिया में असाधारण स्थिति को देखते हुए सीबीएसई को सलाह दी गई है कि वो पाठ्यक्रम में कमी करे। उन्होंने ये भी लिखा कि अपने फैसले के लिए कुछ हफ्ते पहले मैंने शिक्षाविदों से सुझाव मांगे थे और मुझे इस मामले में डेढ़ हज़ार से ज्यादा सुझाव मिले।
