As the protests over the death of George Floyd heat up in the U.S., scores of Korean-run businesses have been the unfortunate victims of rioting and looting.
Seoul's foreign ministry said Tuesday that 79 Korean stores were damaged across the U.S., but no Korean casualties were reported.
Philadelphia had 50 cases of damaged Korean-owned stores, the highest in the country.
Cases were also reported in Minneapolis and Atlanta.
According to a Korean resident in Philadelphia, more than half of the damaged Korean-owned businesses are related to beauty supplies, mobile phones and pharmacies.
The LA Consulate General says the California National Guard has been deployed in Koreatown since Monday to keep the neighborhood as safe as possible.
