In the next few hours South Korea's science ministry will announce where the country will build its next-generation synchrotron radiation accelerator, expected to rake in nearly 5-and-a-half billion dollars worth of economic effect.
This facility will harness electrons moving at high speeds to create energy and X-ray beams that can be used to check and analyze superfine materials.
The process can be used in the development of new advanced materials, display and semiconductors, fueling growth in biotech and life science.
The location will either be Naju in Jeollanam-do Province, or Chungju in Chungcheongbuk-do Province as they were tapped as final candidate cities by the science ministry earlier this week.
The decision will be out at 10:30AM, Korea time.
