The global COVID-19 pandemic lay waste to South Korea's domestic demand and exports in March.
In its monthly greenbook report released on Friday, the Finance Ministry said domestic consumption contracted and there are growing uncertainties surrounding outbound shipments.
Sales at department store fell for the fourth straight month in March, down almost 35 percent on-year.
The number of Chinese tourists to South Korea plunged over 96 percent.
Consumer sentiment for March was around 78... way below 100, meaning more people are pessimistic than optimistic about the local economy.
The ministry has pledged to come up with measures to improve the situation.
