A doctor from northern China removed a lighter that "could have exploded at any time" from a man's stomach.

The video, filmed in the city of Shenyang in Liaoning Province on November 22, shows a lighter trapped inside a young man's stomach.

The 25-year-old man reportedly swallowed the lighter by himself after drinking with his friends.

However, he did not go to hospital until he started to vomit as well as suffered stomachache when he went out to drink again after three days.

According to the doctor, it had a strong smell of fuel when the man burped during the check as the lighter had been eroded and the fuel had leaked out.

Finally, the doctor removed the lighter after 10 minutes of surgery.
