Seoul's deputy national security advisor made an unannounced visit to Washington this week,... for talks over the upcoming termination of a military information-sharing pact with Japan and other issues.
According to reports Wednesday,... Kim Hyun-chong's trip came amid Washington's pressure campaign on Seoul to retract its decision to end GSOMIA.
Reports say Kim met senior White House officials to explain Seoul's stance.
He also explained Seoul's position on the negotiations over the sharing of costs for the upkeep of American troops in South Korea.
Kim returned home on Wednesday... and is expected to brief President Moon on the outcome in the coming hours.
The results will also be discussed at today's National Security Council meeting.
